Microtheme Struggles

 Before I even began writing my paper I knew it was going to be a struggle. One of the hardest things about writing papers for me is simply just starting. I feel like once I have a good grasp on what I am writing, it becomes 10x easier. For this paper, I couldn't think of a good solid topic, but I eventually got the idea of writing about why we oversleep because it was something I could definitely relate to. I have slept through my fair share of alarms and I thought it would be a perfect topic for my paper. 

Another thing I have always hated about writing papers is that I can never seem to organize my thoughts in a concise way that allows the reader to follow along. This is something that I have worked on over the years of writing many papers in high school but it is still something that I struggle with. I'm sure many people can relate to my personal struggle. 

Another reason people may struggle with writing is the mindset. If you are the type of person that hates writing in general it can definitely affect how easy it is to start writing. This is a concept that can be applied to everyday life. It's all in the mindset. If you just say that you are the type of person that can't write well, then you will become that person and will not be a good writer. If you think that you are the type of person that works out every day, then going through the motions of being that person becomes significantly easier. It is all about how you perceive yourself.  

However, writing a paper of this sort is something that I have never had to do. In high school, it was always writing these lengthy papers that seemed like you just had to fluff up everything just to meet the page/word requirements. The micro theme is not like that. In this assignment, I have to be very straight to the point with everything and very concise with my words. Condensing everything down to one page was a little difficult, but I managed to get it done. 

As I progressed through my micro theme paper I realized that writing about something you enjoy and a topic that you choose makes writing much easier. I actually care about what I am writing about and not just what my teacher wants to read. This has significantly improved my writing for this paper compared to other papers I have completed in the past.

The Icebox

 Back in my favorite year 2020 (that's sarcasm) one of my best friends had gotten a job in the summer at this ice factory called 'Home City Ice'. He had worked there for 2 weeks and kept telling me how fun it is and how the pay was pretty good at the time. I didn't have a job then and I wanted some money for the summer, so then he convinced me to apply. While this wasn't my first job, I still didn't have much "work experience". My first job was working as a "lifeguard" at a trampoline park in Downers Grove. I was only there for 2 months before the COVID-19 pandemic took over and I couldn't work. Thanksgiving Traditions

Thanksgiving is a very special holiday in my family, and we have many traditions that we look forward to each year. One of our favorite traditions is setting the table for Thanksgiving dinner. We always use our best china, silverware, and linens, and we set the table with a beautiful centerpiece of flowers and candles. We also love to decorate the house with autumn-themed decorations, such as wreaths and pumpkins. Another important tradition in my family is the Thanksgiving feast itself. We always have a delicious spread of traditional dishes, such as roast turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and gravy. We also like to try out new recipes and add our own twists to classic dishes.
